A festival of sharing, learning and engagement
Held at RMIT University’s Design Hub building, the two day festival (15 & 16 November 2012) launched our chapter of Games for Change Australia – New Zealand. Content was curated to reflect local challenges in a global context using games a medium for change. Digital games, game thinking and play are now being used as a key medium to promote positive outcomes in diverse fields, and this diversity will be reflected in our programming of leading practitioners in the following fields:
- Education and training
- Learning and development
- Health and fitness
- Sustainability, community development and civic participation.
The festival experience was also ‘gamified’ – designed for interactivity by inviting participants to share their views on how we can use games to answer the “City Challenges” set by the City of Melbourne. This enables participants to solve meaningful real world challenges in the City of Melbourne, whilst enjoying the fun of winning points, prizes and climbing a leaderboard. All this helps enrich each participants’ learning, information retention and enjoyment of the Festival.
